Our Veterinarians
Dr Nathalie Tremblay, m.v.,
I am one of the few very lucky people who, after 25 + years, are still passionate about their profession... as most of my clients can attest!
From the earliest I can remember, I always knew I was going to be a vet. My parents' garage was a zoo-filled with little critters of every kind!
I tried to save a wingless bee and adopted a 4-legged beetle that a neighbor had mangled. Fattened a limp field mouse before the winter: in a pail because my mom was afraid of it! Gave CPR to a friend's dying goldfish: and saved it!
I befriended every dog I happened to pass on the walk to school, even the mean ones, eventually! My mom never knew that, and unless she reads this, still doesn't!
I love everything about being a vet: from seeing and interacting with people and pets (and puppies!) to teaching owners about their animals in order to live healthier, longer lives together, and even, sadly, helping owners deal with their pets' illnesses, and death and grieving...
Witnessing and being a part of that intangible human-animal bond, every day, is what I think has kept my fire going all these years... along with the rush of surgery, the satisfaction of good dentistry, the fascinating medicine, the revelation of radiology, and all those other things that being a veterinarian entails... of course! Oh! and a veterinary hospital that keeps me soaring!
Good thing I have three human children and 4 4-legged ones: 2 cats and 2 dogs... and a wonderful husband that keep me grounded...

Dr Elshafey is married to a fellow veterinarian, and together, they have a 5 year old son. Outside of work, Dr. Elshafey enjoys spending quality time with family and staying active within the community.
Dr Isabelle Weber Danino, m.v.
I was born in France and, as far back as I can remember, I have always had a particular fascination with animals. As a child, I would take in dogs, cats, mice, snakes, birds, fish, tadpoles, frogs, rabbits, and even insects, spending my days taking care of them. Becoming a veterinarian allowed me not only to live my passion on a daily basis by caring for animals, but also to help people and feel useful, while realizing my childhood dream.
I deeply love medicine. I studied at an exceptional school in France, where I had the opportunity to complete my basic course with flying colors. I also passed several competitive exams, followed a two-year medical internship, and a three-year clinical course in internal medicine. These experiences allowed me to acquire solid knowledge, particularly in medical imaging and internal medicine. Never tired of discovering and learning, I am passionate about the challenges that my job presents to me every day. For me, being a veterinarian is much more than just a job, it is a true calling.

Martin Jacques, TSAc
I won't be the first to say that my parents always knew I would work with animals. It is true that I have always been curious about creatures that crawl, run, jump, swim or fly. It was therefore only natural to head towards the animal health field to be able to help them when they are sick and to listen to them even if they do not know how to talk to us.
I completed my training to become an animal health technician at Cégep Lionel-Groulx in 2020. I headed to Centre Vétérinaire Laval to be the first guinea pig in their new animal health technician intern program, allowing me to be trained in multiple specialties offered by the emergency center: exotics, anesthesia, internal medicine, dermatology, surgery and others. I then spent three years in the exotic animal department of Centre Vétérinaire Laval. I met all kinds of species, from small mammals to parrots and reptiles, not forgetting several wild species native to Quebec. My star patients in recent years have been a peregrine falcon with a broken wing, a baby emu, a tiny baby penguin and an endoscopy of a caiman! You never know what to expect so you have to be prepared for all eventualities!
I then directed my attention towards Duvernay Veterinary Hospital to allow me to dedicate myself more to my patients and their parents, something more difficult to do with the high turnover of an emergency center. I want to ensure that all our customers can benefit from clear and detailed explanations in order to reassure them in difficult times or advise them on any questions regarding their companion.
I still have the same passion for exotic animals but my other interests are diagnostic discussions with our team of experienced veterinarians as well as anatomical and physiological concepts of different species.
My motto is “treat others the way you want to be treated”, so rest assured that I will dedicate myself to each animal in my care as if it were my own.
Our Support Staff
Roxanne Bourget
My name is Roxanne and I am a veterinary technician assistant.
I have been working for Duvernay Veterinarian Hospital since October 2020 and I have been learning every day!
My passion for animals has been inhabiting me since I was a little girl. I have worked, for almost a year, in a shelter which made me aware of pet surrenders and difficult animals. This job helped me realize that I was at ease in the animal domain. I love when I succeed to reach the shyest of them: when they let me in their bubble!
At home, I have a small community: 3 cats, 1 dog and a rabbit. We never get bored!
What I enjoy the most is the versatility of my job from helping the surgical staff or in consultations as well as assisting our clients. This last aspect, customer service, is the most important to me.
Hoping to see you soon, best regards!
Annik Lussier
Since my early childood, the need to help people has been a part of me. Fascinated by the animal and medical fields, I was able to combine in this job both my passions and interests.
Having worked for several years as a therapist in physical rehabilitation (for human beings!!), I transposed my knowledge and skills towards beings of the animal kingdom.
My goal during your visit: to ensure that each person who walks through our doors feels understood, supported and cared for when it comes to the well-being of their pet.
Mom of two boys that have saved a pregnant cat with an uncertain future, we gave birth and welcomed the 8th wonder of the world... Leo, the cat! Treating every person as if they were a member of my family is my philosophy. Looking forward to meet you!
Marie-Cristelle Abad-Ciampa
I have always had a great passion for animals of all sizes, great and small.
After finishing my DEP in secretarial studies, I said to myself: “Why not combine my work with my love for these little creatures? ".
My priority is to make sure that every customer that visits our hospital feels welcomed and understood.
Looking forward to meeting you and your pets!
Selena Ouellette
My name is Selena Ouellette, I am a veterinary technician assistant and I am currently studying at Lionel-Groulx College in the Animal Health Technology program. I have always had at heart animal welfare, so working in this field was obvious to me.
First of all, my journey began by doing a Skills Training Certificate (STC) in animal care. Then, as part of my studies, I was called to do an internship here at the Duvernay Veterinary Hospital. This is how, in October 2022, I was hired as an animal care attendant. Taking care of animals every day was like a dream come true!
But I didn't stop there. By working with passionate and dedicated animal health technicians, I realized that they had the capacity and knowledge necessary to make a real difference in the lives of animals. This is what gave me the drive to start the Animal Health Technology program in the fall of 2023.
There is nothing like the feeling of having found your calling, your place in the world. I hope you all find a work environment where you can shine. I certainly found mine!
Ambre Czubak
My name is Ambre and I work as a veterinary technician assistant at the Duvernay Veterinary Hospital. I arrived in Canada in February 2024, accompanied, of course, by my two precious companions, Tartine and Igloo. Impossible to imagine this move without them.
Since I was very young, working with animals has been obvious to me. Growing up on a farm, I was always surrounded by animals, which fueled my passion for their well-being and care.
I am determined to actively contribute to the well-being of animals and to support the team with efficiency and kindness.
Jacinthe Larin
Jacinthe has been with us since 1990 as a secretary-receptionist. In 2007, she returned to school in Information and Library Technologies in a planned carreer re-orientation, but has remained with us as part-time administrative assistant.
A la douce mémoire de Savannah (2011-2024)
Meet Savannah! Our well-loved and loving mascot! She is an 'old soul', with an Olympian calm that charms even the coldest heart! No can resist her!
We love you, Savannah! xxx
Maui
Our hospital's newest mascot! Rescued from euthanasia at 3½ months, and after 2 surgeries and one month recovery, she is now all better! Shy and quiet (for now), she is winning everyone's heart, especially Savannah's, whom she views as her big sister.
Welcome Maui! xxx
